Hokusai

A view from behind Mt. Fuji, showing the mountain obscured by other smaller peaks. A family is performing daily tasks of dying thread and drying tobacco, however the man scrubbing the horse is distracted by the horse's flowing mane or Mt. Fuji's peak?

L.J.C.Shimoda

First frame: Living near Mt. Fuji today, a view of the mountain is often obscured by high-rise buildings.

Second frame: The lines of the distracted man's body are sinuous and acrobatic. Is he reaching, grasping for a glimpse of Mt. Fuji?

Double frame: Hanging tobacco out to dry conjured an idea that we might hang all our vices out to dry. The fabric of the hanging clothes have patterns of cars, babies, TVs, doughnuts, and cigarettes.
